Shipping for Students

You've gotta understand the main things to bring to your new school or college, now your looking for shipping for students. If you want to save money, and time then it is necessary to understand just what you must bring to be successful at a school. You've got to realize what furniture, and things you need and what items you can easily get at your new school.

There are generally three categories of items that you need to ship to your new school. The first is excessive baggage, when you fly to school there will be rules and fees to regulate how much you can bring with you on the airplane. Most planes now charge $50 for any additional bags beyond the single carry on and the single check in bag that you are allowed. Be sure to account for how much added baggage you will be bringing on the plane as these last minute fees can add up. Be sure to pack and bring as much in those two bags as possible. If you are moving and having a parent help you, be sure to utilize their checked in bags as well.

The second main category of items that you will be bringing with you are those items that considered boxed items. These are things like cases, books, picture frames, etc. These are the types of things that make your new college room unique from the others, but close enough to look like your home. Boxed items are the things that can really begin to add up and get expensive, that's why you need to look at a big shipping company instead of a specialized transport company. Be sure to get quotes from several companies as pricing will vary tremendously.

The third and most unrealistic category for shipping for students is furniture. This is an unrealistic request to ship to college as the actual cost for shipping typically outweighs the actual cost of the furniture itself. Don't get caught up in the notion that you won't have matching furniture anymore, this is college. Don't pay a premium either for new furniture, I'd highly suggest buying used furniture. Since you are in college don't worry about buying the best, you can do that once you get that job when your out of college. I'd buy some used furniture with the intention of destroying it. College is a place to have fun, and not stress out about furniture.

Before you end up determining which shipping company you will be using be sure to take a look at the available companies on the market. By being a smart consumer you could save yourself as much as $500 in shipping.
